FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH – Franklin Township

FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH

Franklin Township – Franklin Township Police were dispatched on Saturday, February 4th at around 12 noon to the intersection of Clayton-Williamstown Road and Behl Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving three vehicles.

Police investigation revealed that a 2005 silver Dodge pickup truck, operated by Jeffrey M. Bordley, 35 years old of Vineland was traveling east bound on Clayton-Williamstown Road when he was struck head on by a 2002 green Chevrolet Impala, operated by Joshua M. Austin, 28 years old of Williamstown, who was traveling west bound on Clayton-Williamstown Road. Futher investigation revealed that Austin was attempting to pass a 1992 black Chevrolet Corvette, operated by James R. McGhee Jr, age 43 years old of Franklinville, who was in the west bound lane stopped in traffic making a left turn onto Behl Road. Austin then crossed the center line into the east bound lane where he collided with Bordley’s vehicle.

Austin was pronounced deceased at the scene. Bordley sustained numerous injuries and was air-lifted by Cooper Medi-Vac To Cooper University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Two juvenile occupants of Bordley’s vehicle were transported by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital with unspecified injuries but are both listed as stable. McGhee was not injured in the crash.

Assisting at the scene was Clayton PD, Monroe Twp PD, Inpira Paramedics, Gloucester County EMS, Star Cross Fire Department and Franklinville Vol. Fire Department. The crash is being investigated by Officer Fennimore of Franklin Township Police Department.
