George Vassaras of Franklinville on Tuesday, February 7, 2017.  Age 49.  Son of Joan (nee Solis) and the late John D. Vassaras.  Brother of Demitrios Vassaras, Michael (Wanda) Vassaras, and Constantina Vassaras.  Uncle to Michael Jason Vassaras, Holly Vassaras, and Jacob Graham.  Also survived by longtime girlfriend, Cynthia Cossaboon.
          Born in Elmer, George was a lifelong resident of Franklinville.  He graduated from Delsea Regional High School in 1985 and later from Johnson and Wales University in 1989 where he earned an associate’s degree in culinary arts and a bachelor’s degree in food service management.  George worked for 21 years as an Emergency Services Dispatcher for the Gloucester County Emergency Response Center.  He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting water fowl, and playing the piano.  George was also a gun enthusiast and participated in numerous shooting competitions often with his sister Constantina.  He was a 12 year member of the Franklin Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps including one year as captain and a 34 year member of the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company serving as president for the past 11 years.
          Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday, February 13, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Franklinville Volunteer Fire House, 181 Swedesboro Road, Franklinville, NJ 08322.  Firemen service and life celebration at 8:00 PM at the firehouse.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made George’s memory to the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 64, Franklinville, NJ 08322.  Arrangements under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME.  Sign the guest book and send condolences at
