TERRY BELMONT IANACONE – Obituary

Terry Belmont Ianacone (105) died at home on Monday, August 24, 2026.  She is predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Christopher W. Ianacone, Sr.; her children: Christine T. Ianacone, Michael D. Ianacone, Steven W. Ianacone, and William C. Ianacone; and granddaughter, Laura A. Ianacone.  Terry is survived by her children: David C. Ianacone, Donna M. Ianacone, and Christopher W. Ianacone, Jr., as well as 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Terry was born on June 23, 1921, in San Francisco, CA, and spent her first 5 years traveling the Vaudeville circuit with her parents, Matthew & Genevieve (nee Pearlmutter) Belmont.  Terry relocated to Philadelphia, PA, to live with her grandparents, Louis & Sarah Pearlmutter, until graduation from West Philadelphia High School.  She continued her education at Thomas Edison College in New Jersey, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

Prior to marriage, her various employment in the Philadelphia area included Department Store Demonstrator/Model, Habadasher’s Assistant, File Clerk at Hires Root Beer, and World War II Air Raid Warden.

Terry and Chris married on June 25, 1942, and lived on 2618 S. Mole Street in South Philadelphia, PA.  In August of 1958, the family moved to Fries Mill, NJ.  Terry learned to drive at age 40, wrote for 7 local newspapers, led a 4-H Group, was active in PTA, was a room mother at her children’s schools, was employed at Abbott’s Pharmacy in Glassboro, NJ, and lastly worked at NJ State Unemployment/Job Services in Vineland, NJ, until her retirement in December of 1986.

Terry volunteered with RSVP, made children’s clothing, outfits for dolls and teddy bears, bibs for seniors, and hats for hospital premature infants.  Terry enjoyed embroidery, crochet, knitting, reading, crossword + word search puzzles.

Terry spent her last 9 years with Donna in Wilmington, DE, where she became active with The Red Hat Society, Claymore Senior Center, and the Public Library Senior Book Discussion Group; made friends; delighted in visits to the hair and nail salons; and loved Willow’s monthly tea parties.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.  A Celebration of Life will begin at 12:30 PM, followed by interment at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Williamstown.
