ORVILLE K. STRANG

Orville K Strang, 88, of Newfield, son of Orville and Manolia (Darnell) Strang of Elmer, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland, with his immediate family at his side.  Born December 28, 1928, he grew up in Paulsboro, was a 1946 graduate of Bridgeton High School, and spent his early adult life in Bridgeton, before spending his remaining 45 years in Newfield. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 through 1954, and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. In 1953 Orville married his high school sweetheart Geri (Graham), with whom he would spend the next 63 years together until his passing. Orville spent 33 years with New Jersey Bell Telephone Company, before retiring in 1992. He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, and also VFW Post 2071 in Franklinville where he was Chaplin for much of the past 15 years. He was an avid golfer, and a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia A’s and Phillies.
Orville is predeceased by sisters Elizabeth Strang and Vera (McMahon), and is survived by his wife Geri, daughter Karen and husband Eric Seip of Pitman, sons Carl and wife Carol of Buena, and Scott and wife Suzanne of Durham, CT, four grandchildren Kyle, Christina, Nathan and Allison, and his sister Bertie (Martin) of Bridgeton.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 24th at 12:00 pm at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2384 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Interment will follow in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the Church from 11 AM to 12 Noon prior to the service.
