NEW YOUTH SPECIAL NEEDS BASKETBALL PROGRAM

To Be Held at the Vineland YMCA This Fall

“Building Confidence” is the theme of a new Youth Special Needs Basketball Program that is set to begin soon. This program is available through a partnership with the Vineland Rotary Club and the Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA. It will be held at the YMCA facility in Vineland for seven Saturday mornings, September 30 to November 11. The first outing will include a special opening day celebration for all participants. Special needs youth ages six to eighteen are eligible to register. The registration fee is $5 per child and must be completed at the YMCA by Friday, September 24. YMCA CEO George Steinbronn, Jr. said, “We are very excited to form a partnership with the Vineland Rotary club to expand sport activities locally for families of special needs youth and teens.”  The program will feature the three basic skills involved with playing basketball — dribbling, shooting, and passing. Practices will be approximately forty-five minutes long. They will be organized by age groups: six to ten years, 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.; eleven to fourteen years, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.; and fifteen to eighteen, 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Businesses, groups, or individuals who are interested in sponsorship opportunities for this activity are encouraged to call Steinbronn at (856)691-0030, extension 105 or email steinbronna@ccaymca.org.
