GLORIA ANN LAURY – Obituary

Gloria Ann Laury (nee Capra), 92, of Newfield passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.  Devoted wife of fifty years to the late Paul Russell Laury. Caring mother to Ronald Earl Basolis, Jr. (Marion) of Upper Deerfield, Jeffrey Joseph Basolis (Pamela) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Sharon Ann Steigerwalt (Albert, III) of the Forest Grove section of Franklin Township. Adoring grandmother to Jordan Storm, Robinson Williams, Capra Basolis, Megan Steigerwalt, Brianna Steigerwalt, and five great-grandchildren.  Daughter of the late Bautista “Bob” and Marietta “Mary” (nee Benvenuti) Capra. Sister to the late Linda Arthur.

Born and raised in Vineland, Gloria has been a resident of Newfield since 1966. She graduated from Vineland High School in 1949 and worked for eight years at VINECO, an egg processor company in Vineland, doing clerical work.  When children arrived, Gloria’s focus of work was in the home becoming a great homemaker and raising three wonderful children.  She was very active in school affairs and also became a brownie troop leader.  Later, Gloria became a cafeteria worker at the Edgarton Elementary School for four years. Afterwards, she worked at Halco Mailing as a secretary for twelve years.

Gloria was family oriented and loved to spend quality time with her grandchildren, especially Brianna. She was a Jersey Shore girl who loved the beach, her favorite being Ocean City, NJ.  Gloria was a longtime devoted member of the Malaga Assembly of God.  She also was a member of the Vineland Women’s Club and was very active with the Franklinville Senior Center.
