FRANKLIN MAN CHARGED IN FATAL MV CRASH

 

Shawn Huntsinger  age 45,  of Franklinville, has been charged with vehicular homicide and assault by auto in connection with a two-vehicle collision  in Franklin Township on Tuesday  (1/3) in which 67-year-old Joseph Sauro, of Millville died and two other men were injured. The crash occurred at 2:23 p.m. on Fries Mill Road near Blackwood Ave.

  According to an investigation by the Franklin Township Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, Huntsinger was driving a 2003 Mercury Marquis north on Fries Mill.  Joseph R. Maressa age 26, of Voorhees was driving a 2015 Nissan Quest, a medical transport vehicle taking Sauro to his residence, southbound on the same road.  The Huntsinger vehicle crossed the center line and a head-on collision occurred. The investigation determined Huntsinger was under the influence of alcohol.

  A passenger in the Maressa vehicle,  Joseph Sauro was transported to Cooper Medical Center in Camden and was pronounced dead there.  Maressa was treated for injury at Cooper. Huntsinger was transported to Cooper for treatment and a passenger in his car,  James H. Runyon age 54, was taken to Elmer Hospital for treatment of injuries.
