GEORGE ENGELKE

George Engelke of Franklinville on Thursday, December 21, 2017.  Age 86.  Husband of 38 years to the late Lillian J. (nee Harvey) Engelke.  Father of Wayne A. (Sheri) Stephens, Dianna J. (Ron) Gatto, and the late Curtis G. Engelke.  Grandfather of Cristie (fiancé Anthony) Stephens, Stephanie (Marissa) Engelke, Heather Engelke, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Woodrum, Marne Felice, Carrie Ann Gatto, and Jessica Wandell.  Great-grandfather of Alexis Nicolosi, Haley Schomber, Santino Felice, and Angelina Ferrucci.  Great-grandfather of Addison Quinn Woodrum.  Brother of Harry Engelke and Shirley (Mark) Marquez and the late John Engelke, Charlie Engelke, Joe Engelke, Frank Engelke, Mildred Sivel, Caroline Deola, Loraine Pfrommer, and May Levenknight.  Uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Son of the late John and Mary Louise (nee Shepard) Engelke.  Also survived by his special friends Michele, Stella, Helen, and Brenda.

          George was born in Franklinville and has continued to live there all of his life.  He attended Clayton High School but left at age 16 to proudly serve in the US Army during the Korean War.  George worked as a Foil Operator at Ecko Products in Clayton for 28 years until his retirement in 1990.  He continued working part-time during retirement with Tri-County Security until 2002.  George was a member of the Franklinville VFW Post 2071 and the Franklinville Senior Citizens at the Community Center.  He was an avid hunter (bow, shotgun, and black powder) and fisherman (salt and fresh water).  His family remembers the many trout from Iona Lake or the flounder he caught over the years.  He traveled the world with the military and enjoyed sharing his many war stories.  Most of all, George loved his family.

            Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.  Funeral service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Interment Manahath Cemetery, Glassboro.  Contributions may be made in his memory to Bayada of Inspira Hospice, 603 N.
