CLEOLE ‘CLEO’ WANITA JONES

         Cleole W (Blunt) Jones of Newfield Terrace was born in Richland NJ on May 26, 1932,and went home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2017.  Cleole, also known as Cleo was the second child and only girl of three children born to the late David and Gussie (Hitt) Blunt.

           Cleo attended Richland elementary schools and graduated from Vineland High School in the class of 1950. She met and married Robert E Jones and they were married for 67 years. They moved to Newfield in 1953. Three children were born from this union, Marlene L. Aikens, Robin A. Holmes, and Robert E Jones Jr.

           Cleo was baptized at First Baptist Church in Richland in April 1959. She was very active in Sunday School, Bible class, and Choir groups.  She became a member of Truth Baptist Church in Newfield in1962. While there she served on the Senior Choir, Willing Workers Committee, By-law Committee, Youth Group Assistant Supervisor, Assistant Church Clerk and Financial Secretary. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church in 1999 and remained a member until her passing. Cleo enjoyed the love and attention she received while at Shiloh Baptist. She always spoke about the way she received assistance getting to and from the car, and the hugs and smiles she received during her time there. She would always say “there is plenty of love at Shiloh.”

          Cleo attended Glassboro State College, Gloucester County College, and Governor State University. She worked at Colonial Foods and Plochman’s Mustard, Prudential Insurance as a key punch operator, SCOPE Headstart program as an aide and then teacher, Tri-County Community Partnership Organization Headstart program as a teacher, and Atlantic Human Resources as a foster grandparent.

          She enjoyed, singing, shopping, traveling, spending time with family and friends, working in the community, and going to church. Cleo was one of the co-founders of the Newfield Terrace Community Action Organization and very instrumental in the creation of the Newfield Terrace Community Center (NTCC). She implemented the after school program and food bank. Both programs exist today. She was always interested in helping others especially the less fortunate.

           Cleo was predeceased by her parents David and Gussie Blunt, her brother Archie Blunt, and sister-in-laws Ida and Barbara Blunt. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Robert E Jones Sr.. Three children: Marlene L. Aikens, Robin A. Holmes, Robert E. Jones Jr, and son-in-law Rudolph R. Aikens Jr. of Newfield.. A brother Bennie and sister-in-law Artie Blunt of Vineland. Grandchildren Rudolph R Aikens III,(Leslie), Melvin H. Holmes III, Maya A. Holmes, and great grandchildren Rudolph R Aikens IV and Leeya Aikens of Newfield. Sister-in-laws Dorothy Petway of San Diego Ca. and Jean Jones of Newfield. A brother-in-law George D. Jones of Pleasantville, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

          Services will be held on Saturday December 23 at Shiloh Baptist Church 1837 Northeast Blvd Vineland. Viewing from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral Service at 11. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery 182 S Delsea Drive Vineland.    Repast at Newfield Terrace Community Center, 126 New Jersey Avenue Newfield.
