BRETT MATTHEW HORNOR- Obituary
Brett Matthew Hornor of Monroeville on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. Age 57.
Brett was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, George & Margaret Diblin; his parents, Birdsall A. Hornor, Jr. & Kathleen F. Hornor (nee Diblin); his older brother Eric; and too many aunts & uncles that he loved dearly. Surviving are his older sister, Maryann Patten (nee Hornor) & her Husband, John Patten & their children, Sarah Patten & Zach Patten; his older brother, Russell F. Hornor; and his younger sister, Georgeann F. Hornor. Brett is also survived by his Aunt Regina & Uncle Roger Havens, his Aunt Mary Romanek, and his Aunt Dorothy & Uncle James Mathison. Brett has so many cousins that he loved & cherished, but there are just too many to list here. Brett had so many friends that can’t all be listed, but he had three truly special friends, Terry Rod, Allen Parnell, & Micheal Pretowski.
Born in Trenton and raised in New Egypt, Brett has been a resident of Monroeville since 1992. He was a 1981 graduate of New Egypt Elementary and a 1985 graduate of Allentown High School. Brett started working for MIT Transportation in Hammonton, NJ in 1993 in their tank wash department. A couple of years later, MIT merged with Dana Transportation in Paulsboro, NJ, so Brett followed along. What Brett did next was become the Best Tank Mechanic & Tank Certifier in the State of New Jersey. He took great pride in his job and the work he performed. He will surely be missed by everyone he came in contact with while there. Brett also took tremendous pride in his Snap-On Tools and his toolboxes.
Brett had many hobbies he enjoyed. He was passionate about building things with his hands out of a pile of ” stuff “, and he was awesome at that! Brett also enjoyed freshwater fishing and the peacefulness that being in nature gave him. He also enjoyed his R/C racing cars and dirt buggies that he would build and race around the yard down here in South Jersey. Brett was passionate about those things and many others, but Brett’s true love in his life was his music. He started with a drum set he got for Christmas around the fifth or sixth grade and he never stopped from that point on out. Once he mastered the drums, he moved on to the guitars and even had a Banjo at one point. Brett then started writing and mixing his own music. Over the years, he was even in a couple of bands. You could say that he became a music engineer. Brett Truly LOVED his Music. He also enjoyed playing with the cats that ran around his house. He loved to sit with Georgeann, sometimes in silence, but more often he was making a joke and Georgeann was laughing and enjoying his company.
