SANDRA DOLORES KRAUS – Obituary

Sandra Dolores Kraus (nee Adams) of Clayton on Friday, March 1, 2024.  Age 76.  Wife of 58 years to Carlton Charles Kraus.  Mother of Tammette “Tammy” D. Latona (Bill), Debra S. Hyder (Edward), and Carla S. Kephart (Bill).  Grandmother of Channa M. Latona, Christopher M. Perrone (Brittany), Kallie A. Latona, Julia L. Latona, Samantha B. Perrone, Chase C. Kephart, and Carson E. Hyder.  Daughter of the late Thomas Carlon & Esther (nee Bloom) Adams.  Predeceased by her much loved White Boxer, “Angel Baby”.

Born in Camden and raised in Williamstown, Sandra has been a resident of Clayton for the past 53 years and a longtime summer resident of Big Timber Lake Camping Resort in Cape May Court House.  She was a 1966 graduate of Williamstown High School and later earned an Associates Degree from Gloucester County College and Tax Collector and CFO Certifications from Rutgers Government Services.  Sandra was the Tax Collector for the Borough of Clayton for 10 years and later the Tax Collector and Chief Financial Officer for the Borough of Woodbury Heights for 30 years until her retirement in 2011.

Sandra was very active in her community.  She was a member of the Clayton Little League Association and softball coach for many years, a member of the Clayton Soccer Association, a member of the Clayton Parks and Rec Committee, and a member of the Clayton Municipal Alliance.  She also gave back to her community as a member of the Clayton Elks Lodge #2132, as a member of the Moose Lodge in Florida, and by serving as council woman for the Borough of Clayton.

Sandra loved to go dancing anywhere with her husband including at the Elks Lodge, at the Clayton Fire Hall, and at Moores Inlet in Wildwood.  She loved playing the slots at the casinos and was more often than not a winner.  She also enjoyed shopping, going to the beach at Avalon, taking her grandchildren to plays and concerts, riding roller coasters, going to waterparks, watching movies, camping, and getting her hair and nails done.  Sandra enjoyed numerous cruises with her husband over the years, and cherish Sunday family meals, family games filled with laughter, and activities at her Florida home.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM and again on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.  An Elks Service will be held on Thursday at 7:45 PM.  Funeral Service will be on Friday at 11:00 AM.  Interment at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Williamstown.  Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
