FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH – Franklin Twp. Gloucester County, NJ

On Saturday, March 2nd at around 10:30 PM, Franklin Township Police responded to a single car crash in the area of the 3900 block of West Malaga Road. Officers arrived to find a heavily damaged Kia Optima occupied by two male subjects. The initial investigation revealed that the vehicle left the roadway after entering the oncoming lane of travel, struck a large landscape stone, several mailboxes and a tree before coming to rest.

The driver, Robert Lafferty III age 38 of Williamstown, was treated at the scene and transported to Jefferson Hospital, Washington Twp. where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. The passenger of the vehicle, Edward W. Curran age 41 of Williamstown was treated for a possible fracture to his wrist and transported to Cooper Hospital, Camden for treatment. The case is being investigated by Franklin Township Detective Allison Schnapp and Officer Michael Rocco. Assisting at the scene was Janvier and Franklinville Fire Companies and Gloucester County EMS.
