JOSEPH WESLEY OLSEN

      Joseph Wesley Olsen passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, December 24, 2016.  Age 65.  Husband of 44 years to Danna Kay (nee Cox) Olsen.  Father of Dane (Helena) Olsen and Melissa (Neil) Morgan.  Grandfather of Cory and Rylie Morgan.  Brother of Cathy Myers, Charlie (Gere) Olsen, Bob (Nancy) Olsen, Rosemary (Pete) Serdynski, Bill (Lisa) Olsen, Chris (Fran) Olsen, and the late Wesley Olsen.  Uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Son of the late Wesley Joseph and Catherine Rose (nee Thomas) Olsen.

Born and raised briefly in Philadelphia, Joseph lived for a time in Centre City before moving to Franklinville 43 years ago.  He was a graduate of Clearview Regional High School and went on to earn an Associate Degree in Science in Public and Social Services from Thomas A. Edison State College.  Joseph was a Police Officer with the Franklin Township Police Department for 25 years, retiring as Lieutenant and Emergency Management Officer in 2001 and later worked security for Johnson Matthey in West Deptford until 2015.  He loved gardening, making stained glass, spending time at St. Augustine Beach, playing cards, and riding his motorcycle.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Franklinville United Methodist Church, 1525 Coles Mill Road, Franklinville, NJ 08322.  Memorial service at 11:00 AM at the church.  Arrangements under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Fox Chase Cancer Center, Office of Institutional Advancement, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111.  Sign the guest book and send condolences at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
