WEAPONS OFFENSES – Glassboro

On Thursday, April 13, 2023, at approximately 5:19 P.M., officers from the Glassboro Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Cleveland Avenue for the report of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered several discharged cartridge casings, indicating there had been an open-air exchange of gunfire. Responding officers were also subsequently alerted that a male, identified as 28- year-old Shamir Brown of Sharon Hill, Pa., self-transported from the Cleveland Avenue scene to Jefferson Hospital in Washington Township with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Brown received treatment and survived the gunshot wound. During the investigation, two (2) handguns were seized from a residence on Cleveland Avenue subsequent to execution of a court-authorized search warrant. As a result, 23-year-old Samuel Carr and 37-year-old William Walls, both of Glassboro, have been charged with the following offenses: Unlawful Possession of Weapon: 2C:39-5B(1) Possession of Weapon for Unlawful Purpose: 2C:39-4A(1) Possession of Weapon by Prohibited Person: 2C:39-7B Possession of a Defaced Firearm: 2C:39-3D Carr and Walls were processed and then lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility pending further proceedings. Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of their rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State Law. This investigation remains ongoing at this time.
