THOMAS J. HANRATTY, JR. – Obituary

THOMAS J. HANRATTY JR.

of Wildwood, NJ. Beloved husband of Sissy (nee Plummer). Devoted father of his daughter Roseann and her husband Matt; his son Thomas; daughter Denise and her husband Rob, and daughter Jaclyn. Adoring grandfather of Vienna and Sicily and Robert and Scarlett. Loving great-grandfather of Angelo. Tommy will also be missed by many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Tommy was born on February 12th, 1952 in Philadelphia, PA. He spent his childhood in South Philly and Southwest Philly living with his parents, Thomas and Rosetta and sister, Margaret Ann. He lived in an Italian-Irish neighborhood with a lot of friends nearby. He loved summers in Wildwood.

Tommy attended West Catholic for Boys High School. In September 1969 he met a beautiful blonde through a mutual friend. It was love at first sight and they were married in Philadelphia on June 30th, 1973.

In February 1970, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Naples, Italy but had the privilege of touring the Mediterranean, compliments of the Navy. Tommy worked as a Boatswain’s Mate on the USS Springfield. He worked in Transportation for forty years, then retired to work at Lime Ricky for ten years.

Tommy loved all things Philly; cheesesteaks, a cappella, stick ball, crabs and spaghetti, oldies music and The Phillies. He also loved The Raiders. His favorite place on earth was sitting on his deck in Wildwood, NJ with the sun in his face. His favorite people were his family and the perfect day was one ‘down the shore’ with ‘Sis,’ his kids and his grandkids and Franconi’s pizza!

He could strike up a conversation with any stranger, although it was hard to find someone he didn’t know. To honor him and his legacy, laugh, love life and cherish the time we have together. Cook. Put on some music and make your friends family.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at the Inlet, 2nd Floor, North Wildwood, 101 E. Walnut Ave., North Wildwood, NJ 08260 from noon to 3 PM. Please RSVP ;by Wednesday, October 4th to (609)805-1542.
