Gerard Celestin died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the age of 81. Husband of Julia Celestin for 54 years and Father of Lincy Celestin-Phillips, Lincia Celestin, Herby Celestin, and Ricky Celestin. Grandfather of N’ya Phillips, Kenneth Phillips, Noah Celestin, and Caleb Celestin. Brother to Kesner Celestin (wife Marie Jose), Rosemary Elie, Eliette Seme, and Tony Celestin. Uncle to Carline Celestin-Graham, Marcus Celestin, Sherwood Celestin-Racine, Patricia Celestin-Holt, and many nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Born on January 18, 1942, in Port-au-Prince Haiti. He came to the US in 1969 to Brooklyn, NY, followed by his wife and children in 1971. He has been a resident of Clayton, NJ for 17 years. His family was his pride and joy and his grandchildren had a special place in his heart. He enjoyed taking pictures, and listening to Radio Soleil and his culture’s music while drinking a good cup of coffee. He loved watching soccer, baseball, and attending church. His yearly trips to Haiti to visit friends and family were something he looked forward to. He was a strong pillar of the family and he will truly be missed, but will forever remain in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Clayton Baptist Church, 110 S. Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ 08312.
