The Rowan softball team faced off against Eastern Connecticut State in the NCAA Super Regional series. In a best of three game series, the two squared off with a coveted place in the NCAA tournament on the line. To get to the super regional, Rowan finished third in the NJAC conference tournament, receiving an at large bid into the NCAA tournament. In the regional bracket, the Profs saw off Eastern Nazarene and MIT in the regional final to reach the super regional in Connecticut.

It was a low scoring affair in game one, the score finally broke in the fourth inning with a Jackie Lewis RBI single to put the Warriors up by one. Sara Pisanelli drove in a run in the top of the fifth for Eastern Connecticut State. The only run the Profs would amass in the game would be a Carly Anderson RBI single in the fifth. The Warriors would take game one 2-1.

Game one saw a great pitching duel between Rowan’s Jesse DeDomenico and Eastern Connecticut’s Morgan Bolduk. Bolduk, who only has one loss on the season, allowed only four hits while striking out three. Despite the loss, DeDomenico looked in top form on the found, striking out six and allowing only three hits.

A one run first inning by the Warriors gave the impression that game two might be a bit more of a high scoring affair than the previous game, but that impression would be false. Four innings would go by before another run would score, with the Warriors putting two more on the board in the sixth inning to increase the lead to three. Rowan would earn those two runs back in the bottom half of the inning, but it would not be enough. Eastern Connecticut State took the second game. The Warriors are going to the NCAA tournament.

While not ending the way they would’ve hoped, the season was still quite a successful one for Rowan softball. Discarding their shaky start to the season, the Profs were able to fight and generate a deep postseason run. Just as they’ve done all season, Rowan fought until the very end.
