RICHARD S. ATACK – Obituary

Richard S. Atack of Franklinville on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Age 91. Husband of 56 years to the late Mary Ann Atack (nee Kane). Father of Michael P. Atack (Teri) of Bear, DE; Susan Jerauld (Dennis) of Franklinville; Nancy Graziano (Anthony) of Hopewell Township; and Thomas Atack (Janet) of Cecil. Grandfather of 17 and great-grandfather of 16. Brother of Alice Magnuson and the late David Atack, Gene Atack, George Atack, and Jeanette Atack. Son of the late George & Maude (nee Caskey) Atack.

Born in Atlantic City and raised in Steelmanville, Richard has been a resident of Franklinville for the past 63 years. During 15 of those recent years, he was a Snowbird, wintering in Bonita Springs, FL. Richard was a graduate of Pleasantville High School and proudly served in-country during the Korean War as a tank mechanic in the United States Marine Corps. He worked 35 years for Atlantic City Electric retiring in 1993 as a Troubleman.

Richard played softball, both fast and slow pitch, for Tom and Stella’s Tavern in Williamstown. He loved raising pigs and spending time in his little five-acre garden. The greatest joy in Richard’s life came from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Tuesday, January 10, 2022, at 11:30 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312 where friends may call from 10:30 AM until service time. Inurnment at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
