RICHARD ROY REDDIE – Obituary

Richard Roy Reddie of Franklinville on Thursday, September 7, 2023.  Age 80.  Husband of 55 years to Sandra Ann (nee Lindeman) Reddie.  Father of Victoria “Vicki” Cava and her husband Frank of Franklinville and Kelly Battle and her husband Michael also of Franklinville.  Grandfather of Gianna Cava, Ryan Battle, and Angelina Cava.  Son of H. Jayne Reddie and the late Roy Alexander Reddie.  Brother of Kathryn “Trinka” Reddie, Joanne Morris (Jerry), and Patricia Drake Cabrera (late Ray).

Born in Camden and raised in Westmont, Richard has been a resident of Franklinville for the past 53 years.  He was a 1961 graduate of Haddonfield High School and proudly served for two years in the U.S. Army.  Later, Richard attended Temple University studying Architectural Design.  He worked for many years as a carpenter and mechanic for Reddie Construction and later Viking Drywall until 1998.  Not a man to be sitting still, Richard began working as a retail associate with Home Depot in Washington Township when they first opened and continued until his death.

Richard loved most of all spending time with his family.  When his girls were young, the family enjoyed many camping trips in their camper.  In later years when the girls had families of their own, they all together regularly enjoyed cruises and Disney trips.  His biggest joy was attending his daughters’ dance practices and recitals.  He later fell in love with softball when his granddaughter took up the sport and also became a soccer fan when his grandson began playing.  Dance continued to be a part of his life with his younger granddaughter who is also involved in cheerleading.  Richard would regularly go to Friday night football games just to watch his granddaughter cheer.  Richard enjoyed going to the casinos and playing the slot machines.  He also liked to play candy crush and other games on his iPad.  Richard loved to tell a good story and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  That help was not limited to just family and friends as Richard personally helped countless of Home Depot customers over the years.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.  A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM at the funeral home.  For those who so desire, contributions may be made in memory of Richard to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Team Angelina’s Stars via www2.jdrf.org/site/TR?fr_id=9217&pg=team&team_id=341436.  Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
