REBECCA ‘BECKY’ MARY BRATIS – Obituary
Rebecca “Becky” Mary Bratis (nee Haley) of Franklinville, passed peacefully on July 5, 2026 at the golden age of 97. Becky was born in Camden, NJ and was raised in Thorofare, NJ. She later moved to Franklinville when she married the love of her life, Harry. Beloved wife of her husband, the late Harry Bratis. Dear sister to the late Alice Lukasiewicz. Devoted mother to her children, the late Lorraine Giffear, the late Thomas Jurman, her stepson, the late Harry Bratis Jr., and her surviving children Rebecca Preston (Jim), Louis (Sonny) Jurman (Juanita), Robert (Bobby) Jurman, and Marie McEvoy. Loving grandmother to 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Becky worked for Fischer-Porter Company in Vineland for more than 25 years. After her retirement, she dedicated her time to helping her husband with their tree farm and nursery, Bratis Nursery in Franklinville, where they grew and sold nursery stock and plants such as trees, shrubs, potted and flowering plants, and vegetable plants. Becky loved her flowers, and her yard and deck were always filled with an abundance of colorful flowers and hanging baskets.
In her younger years, Becky loved camping with her husband, Harry. They traveled and camped throughout the entire country, with their favorite destinations being Chincoteague Island and Elk Neck State Park. She was an avid reader and always loved a good romance novel. She also loved spending time on the boardwalk and visiting the Cape May Zoo.
In her later years, Becky and Harry enjoyed spending time at their vacation home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. They loved the peacefulness, beauty, and serenity of the mountains, and developed lasting friendships with their neighbors. Becky was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, and loved spending time with her family, especially the “little ones.” She will be missed immensely by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, July 9th from 10:00 AM –11:00 AM at Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
