POSSESSION OF A HANDGUN ARREST
(Franklin Township)
Shortly after 10 PM on Sunday, January 8th, Franklin Township Police officers Fennimore and Locilento conducted a motor vehicle stop around Delsea Drive (Rt. 47) and Shea Avenue on a 2002 blue Ford minivan operated by Kenneth A. Jones, Jr. age 28 of Philadelphia. Passengers of the vehicle included Zahir Earland, 18 of Philadelphia, Khalil McNeil, 21 of Philadelphia, and Damar Jones, age 24 of Philadelphia.
Police investigation revealed a silver 9mm handgun loaded with 15 bullets within the vehicle. All the occupants in the vehicle were arrested and charged with possession of a weapon without a permit to carry and certain persons not to possess a weapon. Earland was also charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. The driver was also issued motor vehicle summonses. All four subjects were lodged in Salem County Correctional Facility pending a court date.
