LORETTA SKERMONT – Obituary

Our dear mother, Loretta Skermont (nee Sandelier), 87 peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Samaritan Center in Voorhees. She was born on July 30, 1935, the daughter of Peter and Mary Neva (nee Guarro) Sandelier.

Loretta is survived by her devoted children Andrew Brown, Jr. and Larry Brown & spouse Kay; her beloved brother and spouse Steven & Michelle Sandelier; her beloved sister and spouse Karen & John Whiting; her cherished grandchildren Michael Lieby, Peter Brown, Jr., Sharon Hoos, Dana Slachta, Rebecca Bulkley Joseph Brown, & Kelly Skermont; her caring stepchildren Edward Brown & partner Irene Mastroddi, and Dorita Brown; and several cherished great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces & extended family. She will be dearly missed.

She was predeceased by her beloved parents; her husbands Andrew Brown, Sr. & Joseph Skermont, Sr.; her beloved son Peter Brown; her beloved brothers Peter Sandelier, Donald Sandelier & David Sandelier; and her beloved sisters Dorothy Funnell and Joan Walls.

Born in Elk Township and raised in Clayton where she was a longtime resident, Loretta lived in Franklinville for 26 years before moving to Malaga in 2000. She attended Clayton High School and worked for a long time as a seamstress at Nannette’s in Glassboro as well as several other places. More recently, Loretta was a dough maker at Pizza Hut in Glassboro for 5½ years before retiring in 1998. During her years in Franklinville, Loretta was a volunteer EMT with the Franklin Township Ambulance. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds and other wildlife in her backyard. Loretta enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and liked doing crafts and puzzles. She traveled in a motorhome to California, Florida, Canada, and many other places. Loretta liked canning and later enjoying the fruits of her labor and always loved a house full of kids and visitors.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 351 N. Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ 08312 followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. Interment private at the convenience of the family.
