JOHN HAYNICZ- Obituary

John Haynicz (94) of Aura died on Saturday, August 26, 2023.  Born in Chester, PA, lifelong resident of Elk Township spending his youth on the family farm (Haynicz Homestead) until inducted in March 1951 into the Army for the Korean War and sent to Germany as part of the Occupation Forces in West Germany.  Discharged in 1957.  Employed by the Dupont Co. Deepwater, NJ for 39 years, 20 years as an Electrician and 19 years as an Electrical Supervisor retiring in 1992.

Life member of the Aura Fire CO, 39 years active.  Elk Township School Board for 12 years from 1959-1971.  Elk Township Committee for 9 years from 1965-1974.  Former longtime member of the Aura Methodist Church serving many years as chairman of the Administrative Board.  Treasurer of Aura Cemetery Association.  Church building committee.  Charter member of the newly formed Country Road Bible Church serving on the building committee during the planning and construction of the new sanctuary.  In younger days as an avid hunter locally and places such as New Brunswick, Canada; Maine; and Pennsylvania.  Loved his workshop and continued his love of farming by maintaining a large garden and making his famous “Poppop’s pickles”.

Survived by loving wife of 71 years Julia M. “Judy” (nee Powell) of Aura; four daughters Cathleen (Jim) Porter of Mullica Hill, Debbie Rosenberry of Lake Gilman, Barbara (Tom) DeGeorge of Pitman, and Sandra Woodell of Pitman; and one son COL(R) John (April) Haynicz, U.S. Army; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother Dr. Peter Haynicz of Stroudsburg, PA; and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by their infant daughter Judy Kay; siblings Catherine, Anna, Samuel, Michael, Harry, and Daniel; grandsons Benjamin and CDR Seth Rosenberry; and sons-in-law Charles “Rob” Woodell and Boyden Rosenberry.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM and again on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.  Funeral service on Friday at 10:30 AM.  Interment Cedar Green Cemetery, Clayton.  Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
