HORSE DIES IN HIT & RUN ACCIDENT

Press Release from Franklin Township (Gloucester County) Police Department – (9/13/2022)

On Tuesday September 13th at around 8 PM, Franklin Township Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Monroeville Road for a report of a hit and run crash involving a horse and a female rider. Police investigation revealed that a 14 year-old female from Sicklerville and a 21 year-old male from Camden were each riding a horse along the west bound shoulder of Monroeville Road. A vehicle, at this time believed to be an older model, light colored pick up truck was also traveling west on Monroeville Road. The vehicle struck the horse and 14 year-old female who was riding the horse and then fled the scene continuing west on Monroeville Road toward Buck Road. The 21 year-old male who was riding the other horse was not struck and not injured in the crash. The female sustained various injuries and was transported to Cooper University Hospital where she is listed in stable condition. The horse passed away on scene and was turned over to the owner. The case is being investigated by Officer Heimerl of the Franklin Township Police Department.
