FLORENCE CHECCHIA – Obituary
Florence Checchia (nee Zinni) on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Age 96. Wife of 43 years to the late Robert E. Checchia. Aunt to Patricia Rollins of Orlando, FL. Daughter of the late Antonio & Adeline (nee Maiella) Zinni.
Born in Clayton where she lived nearly all of her life, Florence was recently an assisted living resident in Washington Township. She was a 1944 graduate of Clayton High School and a 1947 graduate of Jefferson Medical College, School of Nursing. She was also a graduate of Trenton State College. Florence was a registered nurse for 40 years and last worked as a school nurse for the Clearview Board of Education. She was a member and former president of the Gloucester County School Nurses Association. Florence was proud to be a charter member of Saint Catherine of Siena R.C. Church in Clayton for many years. She enjoyed bowling in the Tuesday women’s league at the former Glassbowl Lanes in Glassboro. She also enjoyed knitting and liked to play the piano.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. Funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment at 3:00 PM at Lawnside Cemetery in Woodstown.
