FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT – update

On Thursday, July 27th at around 6:30 PM, the Franklin Township Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on Delsea Drive near Grant Avenue.   Police investigation revealed a 2005 Chevy Cavalier driven by Crystal Marmarou, 28, of Franklinville was traveling south bound on Delsea Drive when the vehicle lost control for an unknown reason, entered the north bound lane of Delsea Drive, then struck a 1994 Dodge Van, driven by Steven McGroarty, 41 of Franklinville traveling north bound on Delsea Drive.  The van had three juvenile passengers that sustained injuries and were transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.   McGroarty was entrapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Franklinville Fire Department.   He was flown by Jeff Stat to Cooper University Hospital for leg and head injuries.  Mamarou was pronounced deceased on the scene.   The crash is being investigated by Officer Krauss and no charges have been filed at this time.   The identities of the juveniles are being withheld.   Assisting at the scene was Franklinville Fire Department, Inspira Paramedics, Gloucester County EMS, Star Cross Fire Police, NJ Dept of Transportation, Jeff Stat Helicopter and NJ State Police.
