In Round 1 of the NJSIAA playoffs, the Delsea Crusaders beat the Deptford Spartans 20-0 at John A. Oberg field. Delsea had control of the game the entire night, Deptford did not reach the red zone until the end of the 4th quarter. Linebacker/Running Back Keison Fowler had a huge night on both sides of the ball rushing for 119 yards and a touchdown on 9 carries. He also had 10 tackles and a sack on defense. Linebacker Ronald Singletary and Defensive End Jake Nwsou also had sacks. Cornerbacks Shaikyi Hannah and Khyion Willis both had interceptions on the night. The weather played in Delsea’s favor as the rain poured down all night. Deptford had no answer on offense and struggled all night to move the ball.

Delsea scored on the opening possession of the game when Running Back Kesion Fowler blasted through the hole for a 65 yard run on 3rd and 9 which put Delsea inside Deptford’s 3 yard line. Quarterback Damir Lomax ran the touchdown in to put Delsea up 6-0. Deptford punted the ball back and Delsea went back to work. It was a 14 play 82 yard drive with big plays, Lomax connected to Hannah for a 30 yard pass and running back James Vargo had a big run. This set up Delsea inside the 5 yard line and Running Back Aidan Borguet punched in the touchdown from 5 yards out. Borguet had 157 yards on 33 carries and a touchdown. It was now halftime and Deptford had -4 total yards. This stat alone shows how dominant Delsea’s defense was on the night. Delsea had full control the remainder of the game and was looking forward to their next game which will be against Woodrow Wilson. Delsea beat Woodrow earlier in the year 56-14 which was Woodrow’s first loss on the season. Delsea has won 8 consecutive games against Woodrow dating back to 2010. This is another piece in this growing rivalry between 2 competitive schools. The game will be Friday, November 9th at John A. Oberg Field at 7 p.m..
