On Friday, October 19th at John A. Oberg field the Delsea Crusaders beat the Cedar Creek Pirates 38-16. Delsea advances to 4-3 in the season while Cedar Creek dropped to 3-4. This was Delsea’s third win in a row previously beating Camden Catholic 54-0, then blowing out top ranked Woodrow Wilson 56-14 and now rolling over Cedar Creek.

Delsea opened up their homecoming game by driving right down the field with running back Aiden Borguet breaking off a big run. Delsea scored 8-0 when Running Back Shaikyi Hannah took the pitch and crossed the goal line. Borguet added the two point conversion. Cedar Creek punted the ball to Delsea and the punt was muffed. Cedar Creek took over inside Delsea’s 10-yard line. Cedar Creek only managed to get three points on Delsea’s miscue. Delsea got the ball back and went three and out. Delsea punted the ball, but it was deflected at the line of scrimmage and Cedar Creek took it to the house which put them up at 10-8. Back-to-back drives, Delsea turned the ball over on special teams which gave Cedar Creek the lead.

Delsea got back into rhythm when Borguet carried defenders down the field and punched his first of four touchdowns on the night. Delsea was up 14-10 and got the ball right back, Borguet ripped off a 45 yard touchdown run to put Delsea up 22-10. Keison Fowler added the two-point conversion. Fowler had a huge night on defense making plays all over the field. Cedar Creek got the ball and drove down past the 50 yard line and Delsea came up with a big stop. The ball was tipped into the air and once again Freshman Cornerback, Trey Simmons dove and caught the ball. This is Simmons third game in a row with a takeaway. The score was 22-10 at halftime and Creek opened the second half with a touchdown of their own which cut Delsea’s lead in half.  Once again Borguet and the Delsea powerful offensive line drove down the field and punched in a touchdown of their own. Borguet also added the two point conversion.

Creek had to do something exceptional on their next drive, because Borguet was running over and carrying Creek defenders. They drove all the way down inside Delsea’s 5 yard line and on third down Cedar Creek fumbled, Sophomore Corner Luca Gebhard recovered the ball and Delsea took over on downs. This is Gebhard’s 2nd game in a row with a turnover, he also had a huge sack that helped Delsea secure the win. Borguet added his fourth and final touchdown of the night and also converted the two point conversion. Delsea was up 38-16 and the game would stay until the final whistle. Borguet finished the night with 226 total yards and four touchdowns. Delsea’s next game is Friday, October 26th at Bridgeton at 7 p.m.
