ANTHONY EDWARD VILIMAS – Obituary

Anthony Edward Vilimas of Franklinville on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Age 68.  Husband of 43 years to Cyndi Marie Vilimas (nee Stewart).  Father of Derek Vilimas and his wife Erin and Jason Vilimas and his wife Jessica.  Grandfather of Ryleigh, Remi, Colton, and Jordyn Vilimas.  Brother of the late Dennis Vilimas, and uncle of Merayah Menold (nee Vilimas) and Matthew Vilimas.  Son of the late Anthony Adam and Regina Alice (nee Doyle) Vilimas.

Born in Philadelphia and raised in Clayton through his freshman year in high school, Anthony has been a resident of Franklinville for the past 52 years.  He was a 1973 graduate of Delsea Regional High School and attended Pennco Tech for computer science.  Anthony also took some classes at Glassboro State College related to his employment.  He worked as a die setter and machinist/master mechanic for Owens-Illinois in Glassboro for more than 25 years until the plant closed in 1994.  Anthony then worked as a die setter and machinist at Intrapac in Swedesboro until their closure in 2013 bringing about his subsequent retirement.

Anthony was a master tinkerer and an expert at small engine repair.  There wasn’t a lawnmower, dirt bike, go-kart, or anything else with a small engine that he could resurrect.  He was an avid camper for many years beginning with a tent and slowly graduating to a pop-up camper, motorhome, and fifth-wheel.  Anthony has been a motorcycle enthusiast since age 14 owning a number of bikes over the years including a Honda, a Harley, and a Gold Wing.  He was a longtime volunteer firefighter with the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company and later the Malaga Volunteer Fire Company.  Anthony was a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan and loved spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren.  His family described him as “just a great guy” and an “old-school gentleman”.  He was known for being brutally honest and always optimistic.  Anthony always lived for today and was always wanting to go places.

Services are private at the convenience of the family under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME of Clayton.  Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
