Thomas A. Genovese, Sr., 87, of Glassboro, NJ
Thomas A. Genovese, Sr., age 87, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025. Born on July 6, 1938, Thomas was a lifelong resident of Glassboro, NJ. He was a proud graduate of St. Bridget’s Elementary School and Glassboro High School.
Thomas dedicated over 30 years of his career to the Glassboro Public School District before retiring in 2000. He also worked for more than a decade at Gill & Duffus Products. After retirement, Thomas enjoyed 25 blessed years surrounded by family and friends.
He was married to his beloved wife, Maria Genovese (née Bonino), for 52 years. Thomas is survived by his children: John A. Genovese II, Carmella Hill (Fred), and Thomas A. Genovese, Jr. (Melissa); his cherished grandchildren: Luke, Laurel, Lewis, and Gia and his siblings: Joseph Genovese, Theresa McElroy (Charles), and Louise Berry.
Thomas was known for his hardworking and thrifty nature, as well as his stern and stubborn personality. He found joy in simple pleasures-spending time with his cats and dogs, solving word searches, puzzles, watching classic shows like Laurel and Hardy, The Three Stooges, wrestling, and old westerns, collecting coins, gardening, and enjoying a good beer and/or wild turkey whiskey.
A devoted member of his community, Thomas was part of St. Anthony’s Beneficial Society for over 60 years and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as an usher at St. Bridget’s and St. Catherine’s churches for as long as he was able.
Thomas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312 and again on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Saint Bridget R.C. Church, 125 Church Street, Glassboro, NJ 08028. Funeral mass on Saturday at 10:15 AM at the church. Interment to follow at Saint Bridget Cemetery.
