MARIANNE VAN HOOK- Obituary

Marianne Van Hook, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 12, 2024 at Duke University HealthCare after a three year battle with health issues.

She was born in Bridgeton, NJ to Frank and Mary Baitinger the 4th child out of 14 children. She lived most of her life in Southern New Jersey and the last 18 years in Granville County, North Carolina.

In 1963, she married Anthony L. Van Hook, together they had three children, Sarah, Anthony Jr. and Frank. Marianne and Anthony enjoyed many adventures from motorcycle enduros to spending several months of time in the Northern Canadian wilderness until he passed away in 2003. Marianne loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing, crafting, gardening and so much more. She especially loved being a grandmother so she could spoil them and send them back home to their parents. Marianne was a Cub Scout den mother for many years for her sons Anthony and Frank. She retired from the United States Postal Service after 25 years as a rural letter carrier.

In 2006, she met her friend Ken Comely together they spent 15 years traveling the United States and Canada where they would go RVing and gold mining until his death in 2021.

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Wansing (Kelly); son, Frank J. Van Hook; brothers, Howard Baitinger (Dolly), Frank Baitinger III, Rusty Baitinger (Pat) and Ian Baitinger (Julie); sisters, Barbra Loudon, Janice Loveland, June Skompski, Debra Van Meter (Dave), Terri Hitchner (George), Lori Joyce (Tommy), and Sandra Whitesall (Bob); sisters-in-law, Janice Phillips (John) and Susan Cavagnaro; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many  nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Marianne was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Anthony Van Hook Sr; son, Anthony Van Hook Jr; predeceased parents, Frank and Mary Baitinger; her in-laws, Anthony & Sarah Van Hook; brothers, David Baitinger & Kenneth Baitinger; and two infant grandchildren and one infant great-grandchild.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral home visitation at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 9:30am to 10:30am followed by a  graveside service and burial will be held at 11am at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 741 E Walnut Rd, Vineland.  Vineland.
