LINDA LOU GORMLEY – Obituary

Linda Lou Gormley (nee Lockett) on Saturday, September 19, 2020.  Age 65.  Wife of 48 years to Patrick McCall Gormley.  Mother of Kelly McCall Gormley and Brian Adams Gormley.  Grandmother of Logan Gormley.  Sister of Bonnie Lockett, Billy Emmons, Jill Emmons, and the late Wendy Emmons, Vicki Lockett, and Danny Lockett.  Daughter of the late Edward Lockett and the late Sallie Marie (nee Russell) and William Emmons.

Born in Binghamton, NY and raised in Herrick Center, PA, Linda has been a resident of Clayton for the past 35 years.  After graduating high school, she went on to attend Lincoln University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Services and later a master’s degree in Human Services.  Linda worked in Camden for 10 years with Volunteers of America in their pre-release program as well as their emergency shelter.  Later with the Philadelphia Department for Aging, she connected older people to services available to them.  Most recently, Linda worked for 10+ years with Children’s Choice in Bellmawr as part of their specialized, community-based children and family services.

Linda enjoyed planting in her gardens including tomatoes, lettuce, and flowers.  She loved wildlife and liked to sit in the park waiting for a chance to see the animals.  Camping in the Pocono’s was her most favorite thing to do.  Linda was always kind to people and didn’t spend time on criticism.  She never wanted to make people feel bad about themselves.  Linda was never afraid of life, and lived by the mantra “Don’t be afraid” which she often shared with others.

Services are private at the convenience of the family under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME.  Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
