Kevin Blase O’Hara – Obituary

Kevin Blase O’Hara, 73, of Clayton, New Jersey, passed away on February 3, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Katherine (née Austin) O’Hara. Kevin was the proud father of Kevin P. (Melissa) O’Hara and John J. (Nicole) O’Hara, and the adoring grandfather of Charlotte, Grace, and Joey O’Hara. He was a loving brother to Sean O’Hara, Brian (Linda) O’Hara, Maureen (Bob) Hoffman, and Terrance (Barbara) O’Hara. Kevin was also a cherished brother-in-law to Michael (Rose) Austin, James (Vince) Austin-Cole, Ann (Jerome) Altemus, and Marie Lamb, as well as a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was deeply cherished by his special friends Bill and Linda Fahy, Nick Falisi, and Diane Mabey. Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Ethel O’Hara; his father and mother-in-law, James and Mary Austin; brothers-in-law Thomas and Tim Austin; and his beloved nephew Ryan O’Hara.

Kevin was a proud 1970 graduate of Clayton High School, where he gained recognition as a standout basketball player during his junior and senior years. After high school, he dedicated over 37 years to Boeing Helicopters as a quality inspector, retiring on April 30, 2013. His commitment to excellence in his career was matched only by his dedication to his family and friends.

In his younger years, Kevin was an avid fisherman, often spending time outdoors enjoying his favorite hobby. He was a lifelong music lover, with a particular fondness for Motown, and he loved dancing to the tunes that moved him. Kevin was known for his infectious laughter, which could light up any room, and his playful spirit never failed to bring a smile to others.

A devoted grandfather, Kevin found his greatest joy in the company of his three grandchildren, Charlotte, Grace, and Joey, who brought immeasurable happiness into his life. He was also a loyal companion to his golden retriever, Gandalf, and had a special bond with his grand puppies. Over the years, Kevin developed a remarkable tool collection and spent countless hours “puttering” around in his garage, always working on something new. His drink of choice was a cold Budweiser beer, which he enjoyed with friends and family.
