Joseph Salvatore Rizzuto – Obituary
Joseph Salvatore Rizzuto, 79, of Franklinville, passed away in the hospital on Tuesday, October 29, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife, Andrea. Devoted father of John J. Burke, III (wife Anastasia), Joseph S. Rizzuto (wife Helen), Steven M. Burke, John P. Rizzuto (fiance Tina), and Jamie M. Crisden (nee Rizzuto) (husband Sean). Grandfather of Joseph A., Mya N., John D., Jeffrey L., Peyton A., and Jack V. Son of the late Joseph and Jeannette (nee Ballerino) Rizzuto. Brother of John C. Rizzuto (wife Lin) and uncle to Gloria and Michael.
Joe served in the Navy USS Basilone DD-824 EM3 from 1967-69 as an electrician. He often talked about when the ship went to dock he would put up all the lights up to decorate the ship and would take them down when they went to sail. Joe was a resident of Franklinville for 44 years. He was a member of the VFW in Glassboro, a Senior Warden several years and a member of the vesty and Men’s Club of St Thomas Church. He graduated from John Bartram High School in SW Phila. June 1964. He was employed by Univ. of Pa. for 20 years. He was also self employed as Rizzuto Electric and retired on Aug. 2025 as a Electrical Sub Code Inspector for Harrison Twp., South Harrison Twp., Boro of Newfield, and Boro of Buena since 2017. Prior he also worked for Clayton, Franklinville, and Glassboro Boros. His job was to review the plans when they came in and sign off on permits and complete inspections as needed to close out the permits. He was the Electrical inspector for the Inspiral Health Hospital in Mullica Hill from the ground up very proud of it. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. Funeral service at 1:45 PM at Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, 212 North Main Street, Glassboro, NJ 08028. Military honors and interment to follow at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Williamstown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Joseph to Wounded Warriors, Tunnel To Towers, Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, or Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Glassboro.
