JOHN LAWRENCE WISEBURN, IV- Obituary

John Lawrence Wiseburn, IV, age 78, on November 18, 2025, in Clayton, New Jersey. Beloved father of John L. Wiseburn, V of Turnersville; Cheri-Lyn Follum (Shay) of Louisiana; and Raymond Scott Wiseburn (Jessica) of Clayton. Proud grandfather of Damon, Alexis, Nathan, Isabella, and Sophia Wiseburn. Dear brother of Jane Jensen of California and the late Patricia Lindsey. Son of the late Elmer Francis “Jack” and Emma (née Filsinger) Wiseburn.

Born on March 31, 1947, in Whitehaven, New Jersey, Larry was a lifelong resident of Clayton. He graduated from Clayton High School with the Class of 1965 and went on to complete his training as an electrician at Salem County Technical School in 1968.

Larry built a distinguished career as a union electrician until his retirement at age 54. Over the years, he worked for Byers Electrical Construction in Clayton, GM White Electrical Contractors in Vineland, and also served proudly through the union hall. Known for his skill, reliability, and professionalism, Larry was well-respected throughout the electrical field. Beyond his electrical work, he was also the longtime owner of Den of Antiquity in Clayton, a venture that reflected his passion for history and collecting.

A man of many interests and great enthusiasm, Larry was an avid antique collector and could often be found watching antique shows or the History Channel. He was a proud member of the Clayton VFW until its closing and later joined the Franklinville VFW. As a life member of the Clayton Elks Lodge for 45 years, Larry was deeply committed to charitable work, especially for special needs children. His grilling at large charity events became a well-loved tradition, and he volunteered generously with both the Elks and the Elks Ladies Auxiliary.

Larry embraced life with a vibrant spirit. He enjoyed being outdoors as much as possible, whether he was cooking, grilling, or gardening—raising both vegetables and beautiful flowers. Whether enjoying a cold beer, socializing with friends, or attending his grandsons’ football games, he brought warmth and camaraderie wherever he went. A huge Giants fan, he was always ready to cheer on his team. Larry was a steadfast supporter of all Clayton community events and was known for having “the biggest heart of anyone.” In quieter moments, he delighted in watching old westerns, especially those featuring John Wayne.

Some of Larry’s happiest memories were made at the beach, especially in Wildwoods. True to his carefree nature, he loved being shirtless by the ocean and spending weekends crabbing, fishing, and taking the kids tubing—creating treasured family moments that will never be forgotten.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. Sign the guestbook and send condolences at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
