JANET MARLENE ROSE – Obituary
Janet Marlene (née Hicks) Rose, age 87, on October 27, 2025, in Williamstown, NJ, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John L. Rose, Sr. Devoted mother of Gerald B. “Jerry” Rose, Sr. (Bobbie), John L. Rose, Jr., the late Daniel W. Rose (Betty) and the late William E. Rose. Janet was the cherished grandmother of Daniel C. Rose (Darla), Gerald B. Rose, Jr. (Deborah), Brian F. Rose, and Trisha Jarrell (Jason); and the proud great-grandmother of Olivia Rose, Violet Rose, Mckenna Rose, Kathryn Rose, Tucker Rose, Kelsey Rose, Makenna Albert, Haylee Albert, Chyler Albert, Robert Convery, Jake Greer, and Marina Greer. Loving sister of Dorothea Jean Hunter, and the late Jack “Frank” Hicks. Janet was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Alice Leona (née Potts) Hicks, and leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
Born on March 17, 1938, in Homestead, PA, Janet was raised in Pittsburgh, where she developed the strong work ethic and caring nature that would define her life. In 1968, she and her family settled in Clayton, NJ, where she resided for 57 years.
After moving to New Jersey, Janet worked at Columbia Records in Pitman from 1968 to 1971. She began her long and meaningful career in 1972 as a Certified Nursing Assistant, serving with compassion and dedication at Wedgewood Americana in Glassboro and later at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Deptford. In 2010, Janet retired at the age of 72, after 38 years of faithful service to her patients and their families.
Janet found great joy in life’s everyday moments. She loved watching General Hospital for many years and took pride in tending to her plants and the vegetables in her garden. Most of all, she treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whose love brought her the greatest happiness. Her gentle nature and caring heart will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. Funeral service will begin at 8:00 PM. Interment will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, 401 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
