Glassboro Public School District invites the community to a Public Forum on Tuesday, Sept. 30th to learn more, ask questions ahead of Nov. 4th Bond Referendum Vote Participants can ask questions via email vote@gpsd.us or in person

Glassboro, N.J. –The Glassboro Public School District Board of Education has planned two opportunities for the community to learn more before voting on Tuesday, November 4th on a three – question bond referendum to update facilities, increase security and add space to accommodate growing enrollment, especially in preschool.

The first is an in-person public forum on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. in the Glassboro High School Media Center. The district’s architect, financial advisor, and bond counsel will join district administrators and staff to explain the proposed projects included in each question, the funding strategy to accomplish the projects through bond borrowing, and more.

Participants are encouraged to submit questions ahead of time by emailing vote@gpsd.us or they can also bring questions to be answered at the forum. This in-person forum also includes a walk-through of Glassboro High School to showcase some of the facilities needs that would be addressed by the bond referendum projects. A second opportunity to learn more takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. virtually.

Participants can join via Zoom to hear from the same presenters and ask them questions. Find the Zoom link on the official bond referendum website: www.gpsd.us/vote. This dedicated bond referendum website also contains a range of information on the proposed projects included in each of the three questions and voter information to help all residents have a say in the Nov. 4 vote.

Approval of all three questions would total a $24.5 million investment, with state aid covering $4.7 million –about 19% of the amount – and taxpayers contributing an additional $17 per month (based on the average Glassboro home assessment of $192,572). Both public forums will explain one benefit of funding large – scale projects through a bond referendum because of the availability of state aid to offset some of the costs. This type of funding is only available to districts following voter approval of a bond referendum. Glassboro Public School District encourages all voters to mark their calendars for either the Sept. 30th or Oct. 14th bond referendum information forum to learn more.
