GARY R. BAUER,DPM – Obituary
Gary R. Bauer, DPM, age 71, of Franklinville, NJ died of a massive stroke in Cooper Hospital on 10/12/23. He was retired for about 25 years from full-time employment as an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Dept of Surgery, PCPM/Temple University, where he was a nationally known master anatomist and reconstructive foot and ankle surgeon.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Gary was a 1978 graduate of The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine and a podiatric surgical resident at Harrison Community Hospital, Mt Clemens, Michigan. Dr. Bauer had many publications, mostly relating to anatomy and diabetic foot reconstruction topics, and was well known among his peers and medical students/residents for his detailed anatomic descriptions and operative procedures and his unusual sense of humor. He was happiest on his sailboat.
Gary is survived by his son Andrew Bauer, a step-daughter Hayley, a brother Walter Bauer, and his sisters Anne Steinman and Susan Seggerman. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Jane Bauer. Gary will be missed by his family and friends.
