FREDERICK HAROLD GOLLATZ – Obituary
Frederick Harold Gollatz, Jr., age 71, of Clayton, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
He is survived by his three children: Frederick Gollatz and his wife Rosella, Adam Gollatz and his wife Caroline, and Gennell Gollatz and her husband Phil; six grandchildren: Liam, Miles, Isla, Anthony, Stefano, and Lorenzo; and four siblings: Judy Gollatz, Connie Gollatz, Penny Ward and her husband Bill, and John Gollatz and his wife Carol. He was predeceased by his parents, the late Frederick Harold and Florence (née Anderson) Gollatz, Sr.
Fred was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 11, 1954, and was raised in Washington Township. He was a longtime resident of Williamstown before relocating to Clayton 18 years ago.
A lifelong carpenter, Fred worked out of the Philadelphia Carpenters’ Local 8 for over 25 years before retiring. He was highly skilled in woodworking and various aspects of construction; with the help of a small handful of friends, he built his family’s home when his children were young. Fred was masterful in the things he could create with wood, reflecting his dedication and expertise in his craft.
An avid outdoorsman, Fred loved saltwater fishing all around Delaware and New Jersey. He once owned a boat and cherished time on the water, but even after selling it, he continued to enjoy fishing on outings with friends as well as surf fishing.
