FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH UPDATE- Deptford Twp

On Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 10:08 pm, Deptford Township Police were dispatched to Tanyard Road, between Cattell Road and Brenner Avenue, for a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, they discovered a two-vehicle crash involving a 2007 BMW 325i and a 1989 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Investigation revealed the motorcycle was traveling north on Tanyard Road and was being operated by William Stotsenburg (age 67) of Deptford, NJ. Ann Fletcher (age 52) of Deptford, NJ was a passenger on the motorcycle. While slowing to make a turn, the motorcycle was rear-ended by the BMW, operated by Miguel Pichardo (age 19) of Westville, NJ. Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected and sustained serious injury. Ann Fletcher later succumbed to her injuries sustained during the crash. Miguel Pichardo was not injured as a result of the crash. He was arrested at the scene by Deptford Township Police for Driving While Intoxicated. Pichardo was charged with DWI, Vehicular Homicide, Assault by Auto, and was lodged in the Salem County Jail on a warrant, pending a detention hearing. The investigation is being conducted by the Deptford Township Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Unit. Assistance at the scene was also provided by the Deptford Township Fire Department. Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of their rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State Law.
