DOROTHY EMMA SMITH – Obituary

Dorothy Emma Smith December 29, 1928- July 14, 2020 Dorothy E Smith (Wittick), 91, of Franklinville, NJ died peacefully at home on Tuesday July 14, 2020. She was born on December 29, 1928 in Mount Royal, NJ, the daughter of the late Lewis Wittick, Sr., and Helen Masters (Carty). Dot was a resident of Clayton, NJ until 2015 when she moved to Franklinville, NJ to live with her son and daughter in law. She delivered the Gloucester County Times for over 20 years and then became a home health aide until she retired in her mid 70’s. Dot was a yard sale aficionado and loved to share the latest deals she made at those sales. She enjoyed music and played the keyboards and the guitar. She was in a band, a quartet, The Strings of Time, with her brother Lewis, in her 70’s and 80’s and wrote some songs she performed with the band. The band performed country and folk music. She had a green thumb and gardened into her 80’s. Dot loved her family and friends and helped others with whatever she could, whether that was helping to take care of those in need, rides to doctors, shopping or meetings, research on the computer, or finding that 800 number. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, E. B. “Smitty” Smith, Sr., son, E.B. “Bud” Smith, Jr., and brother, Lewis Wittick, Jr. She is survived by her sons Alan L(Joyce) of Franklinville, NJ and Ronald J(Debbie) of Newfield, NJ, her sister, Catherine Mihlebach of Clarksboro, NJ, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended meetings at the Kingdom Halls in Williamstown and Newfield, NJ. There will be no service but please share your memories and condolences.
