ANN THERESA POLK – Obituary

Ann Theresa Polk (nee Ploucher) of Franklinville on Sunday, July 1, 2018.  Age 80.  Wife of 65 years to the late Charles L. Polk.  Mother of Millie (Elvin) Hart of Pittsgrove, Gidget (late Danny) Messer of Vineland, Leona (Donald) Raively of Franklinville, and the late Charles L. Polk, Jr.  Grandmother of Michele (Alvin) Kelly, Tara Messer, CJ Messer, Amanda Messer, Tyler Raively, Taylor Raively, Tina Raively, and the late Marie Goldsboro.  Great-grandmother of 9.  Great-great-grandmother of 2.  Sister of Valerie Lutz and the late Joseph Plocher, Gilbert Plocher, Mildred Plocher, Elizabeth Kennedy, and Pat Plocher.  Daughter of the late Gilbert and Elizabeth (nee Usher) Plocher.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Ann has been a resident of Franklinville for the past 60 years.  She was a self-proclaimed domestic engineer who also worked outside of the home in a variety of jobs in various occupations throughout her life to help support her family.  Ann was a 50+ year committeewoman with the Franklin Township Democrat Club and a longtime member of the Sgt. Anthony P. Grochowski VFW Post # 2071 Ladies Auxiliary in Franklinville.
She was a room mother for many years while her kids were in school and helped raise many kids over the years in her extended family and in the neighborhood.  Ann loved history, especially the Civil War, and was very well versed on the topic.  She enjoyed traveling and vacations while raising her family   were  centered around battlefields from Maine to Key West and everywhere in between.  The depth of her knowledge of history often found her correcting tour guides at historical sites.  Later in life, Ann continued to travel and visited all of the national parks and numerous battlefields out west.  She enjoyed watching Jeopardy, loved to read, and enjoyed playing golf over the years with Bernice.  Ann liked to bake and according to her daughters was very good at it with the exception of biscuits which she never could master.  Her family fondly remembers that she was   jack-of-all-trades  and very good at giving orders.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, July 6, 2018, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.  Funeral Service at 3:30 PM at the funeral home.  Interment Cedar Green Cemetery, Clayton.  Sign the guestbook and send condolences at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
