AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON POLICE – Franklin Township
Aggravated Assault on Police
Two Franklin Township Police officers were injured early Tuesday morning (7/3) during a motor vehicle stop that resulted in the arrest of a Camden man.
Brian Ojeniyi, 43, who has addresses in Camden and Deptford Township was stopped by Ofc. Nicholas Locilento on Tuesday morning at 2:12 am for suspected drunk driving. The stop occurred on Delsea Dr. in Malaga at the intersection of Malaga Terrace. Locilento and back up officer, Lt. Matthew DeCesari attempted several times to get Ojeniyi to step out of his vehicle to perform field sobriety tests. Ojeniyi failed to comply and attempted to pull away from the officers. When Ojeniyi could not get his vehicle into gear, he exited the vehicle and physically attacked the two officers. A struggle ensued and Ojeniyi was finally taken into custody. Officers from the Elk Township and Clayton Police Department assisted on the scene.
Ojeniyi will be lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility upon his release from the hospital. He was charged with the following offenses:
-Aggravated Assault on Police(2 Counts)
-Obstruction
-Resisting Arrest
-Hindering Apprehension
-Being under the influence of a narcotic
-Possession of CDS
-DWI and related traffic offenses
Police also located a bottle of suspected PCP in Ojeniyi’s possession during the incident.
