ABIGAIL ANN HERMAN – Obituary
Abigail Ann Herman, age 85, on January 9, 2026, in Elmer, New Jersey. She is survived by her nephews, Walter (RoseMarie) Herman and George (Patty) Herman; her sister-in-law, Mildred Herman; several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Bill and Edwin Mitchell . She was the sister of the late George E. Herman, Jr. and the daughter of the late George Elmer Herman and Abigail Carolyn Herman (née Metzger).
Abigail was a proud graduate of Glassboro High School, Class of 1957. She went on to attend Glassboro State College, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 1961.
A lifelong resident of Elk Township, Abigail maintained a deep and enduring connection to her community. Remarkably, she lived her entire life in the very home in which she was born, a place that remained central to her identity and family history.
Abigail devoted her professional life to education, teaching third grade at Caroline Reuter School for 30 years. She was a dedicated and caring educator who took great pride in her work and in the success of her students.
In her personal life, Abigail enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and to many foreign countries. She was an active member of her church, where she sang in the choir and participated in the bell choir. She was also fondly known for her love of the color purple, a small detail that brought joy to those who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.
