WOODBURY HOMICIDE

On Saturday, August 11th at approximately 11:33 pm, Woodbury City Police officers were dispatched to 53B E. Centre Street, Woodbury,  for a reported shooting.  Upon arrival, responding officers discovered the body of a 27-year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.  An autopsy conducted on Sunday, August 12th, by Gloucester County Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death a Homicide. Circumstances surrounding the homicide are currently under investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Woodbury City Police Department.  Eyewitness statements indicate that the suspect fled on foot.
