WILLIAMSTOWN MAN ARRESTED IN DRUG DEATH

Justin J. Osterdahl age 29 of Williamstown was arrested on Tuesday, May 28th on charges that he sold Heroin laced with the powerful painkiller Fentanyl to a 27-year-old Monroe Township man, resulting in the man’s death on January 29, 2019.

The fatality was investigated by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit. Also assisting with the investigation were the Monroe Township Police Department, the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department, and the Gloucester County Probation Department.

Osterdahl is charged with the following: 2C:35-9A – Strict Liability Drug Death 2C: 35-5B (3) / 2C:35-5B(5) – Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin/Fentanyl/Acetyl Fentanyl – Less than ½ ounce 2C:35-5B(3)/ 2C:35-5B(5) – Distribution of  Heroin/Fentanyl/Acetyl Fentanyl 2 C:35-10A(1) – Possession of Heroin/Fentanyl/Acetyl Fentanyl. Osterdahl was remanded to the Salem County Jail pending a detention hearing.

“Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of their rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State Law.” said Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles Fiore who encourages the public’s assistance with identifying individuals who are responsible for distributing narcotics and causing non-fatal and fatal overdoses, all of which tear at families and the local community.
