WILLIAM ‘BILL’ JOHN OLSHEFSKI – Obituary

Published in The Sentinel of Gloucester County Weekly Newspaper Printed Edition of 6/20/2024

William “Bill” John Olshefski, 87, of Clayton, NJ, passed away on June 5, 2024. Husband of 47 years to Dolores Ann (nee Wishnefski) Olshefski. Devoted father to Kelly Brown (Richard) of Camden, Delaware and Jennifer Lynn Ridley (Mike) of Marlton, New Jersey. Loving grandfather to Leah Brown, Alexandra Brown, Carly Ridley, and Ava Ridley. Brother to Joan Kelly and the late John “Jack” Olshefski. Son of the late John and Katherine (nee Curry) Olshefski.

Bill was born and raised in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Wyoming High School in 1955. He then continued his education at Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Eventually, Bill moved to Marlton Lakes, where he resided for thirty years, prior to living in Clayton for the past thirteen and a half years. Bill had always shown an incredible work ethic. He always kept busy and would never sit down. His mantra was, “The word can’t is not in your vocabulary.” which was then taught to his daughters and grandchildren. Bill had served in the PA National Guard for a total of four years. He had also worked for the Voorhees Township Public Schools as a custodian. In 2017, Bill retired, and as a way to celebrate his retirement, he and Dolores vacationed in Hawaii, creating unforgettable memories.

When Bill was younger, he participated in a number of marble tournaments in Wildwood, New Jersey along with participating in various bowling leagues while living in Pennsylvania. The number one thing in Bill’s life was sports, especially Philly sports. He was always ready to cheer on the Sixers, Eagles, and Phillies. In high school, Bill had played basketball and would often reminisce by telling stories of his time on the court. Bill loved the outdoors; he always kept his yard pristine and enjoyed planting flowers. Most of all, Bill adored and treasured spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was sharing time in the garden or practicing a sport.
