Werner Peter Huepfel, age 83, on July 23, 2026, in Moorestown, NJ. Beloved husband of Shirley May (née Frye) Huepfel, with whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage after marrying on June 30, 1968. Devoted father of Howard Huepfel (Sherry) of Newfield, and Pamela Gordy (Michael) of Wenonah. Cherished grandfather of Emily Weber (Brandon), Holly Borokhovsky (Ben), and Luke Gordy, and the proud great-grandfather of Beckham Weber. Caring brother of Klaus Huepfel (Kae) and the loving son of the late Nikolas and Katarina (née Unterriner) Huepfel.
Born in Grabatz, Romania, Werner spent his childhood there and was raised in his hometown until the age of 18. He then immigrated to the United States, where he was joyfully reunited with his parents in Philadelphia, PA. Following his arrival, Werner traveled throughout the country before ultimately settling in Ferrell, where he made his home for the past 55 years.
Werner faithfully served the Washington Township Public Schools as a maintenance worker for 35 years before retiring in 2005. He was known for his exceptional work ethic, dependability, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect, admiration, and friendship of his colleagues and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Traveling was Werner’s greatest passion. Together with his wife and grandchildren, he explored many parts of the United States, creating treasured memories along the way. Some of his favorite destinations included Branson, Missouri; South Dakota and the majestic Mount Rushmore; and countless beach vacations, especially to Ocean City, Maryland, which held a special place in his heart. A devoted fan of country music, Werner enjoyed attending concerts and shows both locally and during his many trips to Branson.
Nothing brought Werner greater joy than spending time with his family. He rarely missed a grandchild’s sporting event, theater production, recital, or concert, and his steady presence and encouragement meant the world to them.
Werner also had a lifelong love of auto racing. For 25 years, he proudly served as a crewman and championship mechanic for the Sportsman Modified race car #9A, competing at local dirt and asphalt tracks, including Bridgeport, Atlantic City, and East Windsor. His dedication to the team and the sport created lasting friendships and many cherished memories.
A proud milestone in Werner’s life was becoming a United States citizen at the age of 75, a moment that reflected his deep appreciation for the country he called home.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. Funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
