VEHICLE CRASHES INTO TRAIN

On Thursday, October 29th at approximately 7:35 PM, a Jeep Wrangler struck a Conrail train as it crossed Rt. 538 (Coles Mill Road) in the Franklinville section of Franklin Township, Gloucester County. The Jeep, operated by an Elk Township resident was heavily damaged with multiple air bag deployments. The adult driver and juvenile passenger of the motor vehicle were transported by Gloucester County EMS to Cooper Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The three Conrail employees operating the locomotive were uninjured during the crash. The investigation is being completed by Officer Allison Schempp of the Franklin Twp Police Department. Assisting at the scene was Franklinville Fire Company, Gloucester Count EMS, Inspira ALS and Bruce’s Towing.
