THREE METH ARRESTS MADE IN CLAYTON

Two Hammonton men and a California resident were arrested in Clayton on Tuesday (10/10) in possession of one pound of methamphetamine. The arrests in the area of Academy St. and Atlantic Ave. were the result of a cooperative investigation between the Gangs, Guns and Narcotics unit of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Clayton Police Department. A K-9 unit with the Pitman Police Department assisted in the arrests.

Benigno Ramirez age 37, of Hammonton; Benigno’s cousin,  Salathiel Ramirez  age 39, of Hammonton and Eugene A. Griffin  age 37, of San Diego CA were all charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of CDS with intent to distribute. The charge is a first-degree offense since the amount of CDS is more than five ounces. Estimated street value of one pound of methamphetamine s $100,000.

Griffin also was charged as a fugitive from justice.  He has an active warrant from San Diego on a counterfeiting charge. The three suspects were turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department and are being held without bail pending detention hearings. In Griffin’s case, he will also receive an extradition hearing.
